THE ARTISTS
Lilly Buttrose is an emerging visual artist who works primarily in the mediums of textiles, clay and natural weaving materials. She is currently completing her Bachelor of Visual Arts at the University of South Australia. Lily has also previously undertaken weaving workshops with the Southern Elders Weaving Group (2012) and the Anangu Pitjantjatjara Women (2013) at the Tandanya National Aboriginal Cultural Institute. In 2013, Lilly’s work was featured in the South Australian Museum’s Waterhouse Natural History Exhibition. She has exhibited at a number of galleries and art spaces across Adelaide, including Urban Cow Studio, Australian Experimental Art Foundation, Salad Days and Liverpool Street Gallery. From 2014-2017, Lilly’s work will be featured in a number of regional galleries as part of Country Arts South Australia’s touring exhibition Handheld. www.facebook.com/lillybuttroseartist
Meaghan Coles is an emerging portraitist who uses oil paint and mixed media to explore the way in which the female face is idealised and objectified in contemporary culture and print media campaigns. She graduated with a Bachelor of Visual Arts (Painting) from the University of South Australia in 2009 before going on to complete her Honours. Meaghan received the SALA Festival’s Adelaide Central School of Art professional development award in 2011 and was a finalist in The Advertiser Business SA Contemporary Art Prize in 2012. The following year, Meaghan undertook artistic residencies at Jiwar Creation & Society (Barcelona, Spain) and Takt (Berlin, Germany). During her time in Berlin, Meaghan was the founder and director of The Cellar Gallery art space and displayed her work in numerous solo and group exhibitions.Meaghan has exhibited extensively across Adelaide during the Adelaide Fringe & SALA festival, with her first commercial exhibition at Peter Walker Fine Art in 2012. www.meaghancoles.com
Jordan Gower is an emerging printmaker and visual artist who uses aluminium-based etchings, oxides and pigments to explore ideas surrounding the temporality of objects and how their ontology is affected by subjective perception. He completed a Certificate IV of Visual Arts and Craft (Media Arts) at the Adelaide Centre for the Arts in 2008. Jordan received his Bachelor of Visual Arts and Design (Printmaking) from the Adelaide College of the Arts in 2012 before going on to complete his Honours at the University of South Australia in 2013. Earlier this year, Jordan undertook a month-long artist residency at the Instinc Art Space in Singapore. He has exhibited extensively at galleries and art spaces across Adelaide, including Espionage Gallery, West Bar Gallery, Light Square Gallery and SASA Gallery. Jordan is currently serving as an Invigilation/Education Officer at the SASA Gallery and is a technical assistant volunteer in the University of South Australia’s printmaking department. www.jordangower.com
THE CURATORS
Caitlin Eyre is an emerging curator and arts writer. She graduated from the University of Adelaide with a Bachelor of Arts in Anthropology in 2010 before going on to complete a Graduate Diploma in Art History in 2011. Caitlin graduated from the University of Adelaide’s double Master of Arts program in Art History and Curatorial & Museum Studies in 2013. She undertook curatorial internships at the National Gallery of Australia in 2012 and JamFactory Contemporary Craft and Design in 2013. Caitlin is the Assistant Curator and Volunteer Coordinator of local ARI Grid Projects and currently volunteers at the Art Gallery of South Australia.
Craig Robert Middleton is an emerging curator and museum worker. He graduated from the University of Adelaide with degrees in International Studies and Liberal Arts (Italian language) in 2011. During 2010, Craig studied undertook a seven month international exchange in Italy where he studied at the prestigious Sapienza Università di Roma. He received a Master of Museum Studies from Macquarie University in 2013 and is currently completing a Postgraduate Diploma in Art History at the University of Adelaide. Craig has interned and volunteered at the Art Gallery of South Australia since 2013 and is currently employed as a casual museum worker at the National Motor Museum.
